I found some great tips for effective SEO, Search Engine Optimization

1. Keyword in domain name: The most critical factor in getting the sites ranked in competitive niches is having the keyword in the domain name. Most of the times in less competitive niches you can rank well easily if you have the keyword in your domain name, even when you have very less content.

I don't like to include hyphens in my domain names. What I like to do is to have the main keyword followed by something like review, scam, works, users etc.
So if my keyword was fat loss I would have something like fatloss XXXX.com

2. Keyword in title: this is one of the most critical on page factors. Including the keyword in the title is the primary on page factors. Almost every search engine JS insane amount of importance to this so make sure that you include your main keyword in your title tag.

3. Keyword in description: the description should include your keyword. What I like to do personally is to include the keyword first followed by a hyphen and then give the description. Try to squeeze in your keyword twice if possible.

4. Keyword density: the keyword density should be between 5 to 20%. It depends from niche niche but in most niches 5 to 20% is acceptable. Anything over 20% and your sites will never rank in the search engines. Search engines today are smart, they know what the black hat marketeers are up to.

5. Main keyword density of 1% in top third of the page: this is a factor that most people miss out. Make sure that the keyword is included at least one percent in the top third of your article. So if you article is hundred words and has three paragraphs, then your keyword should appear at least once in first paragraph. I hope you get the point and I'm sure most early in the books that you read on search engine optimisation did not tell you this.

6. At least one heading in the page: you should also have one heading in your article. Make sure that you include your Main title in the H1 tag and that will solve the problem. This is an easy but often overlooked factor of on page optimisation.

7. Total number of words in the article should be greater than 500: your articles should have at least 500 words for maximum search engine benefits. I know that ezine articles has spoiled a lot of you, most think that 250 word articles are enough but for maximum search engine optimisation benefit you need an article that has at least 500 words.

8. Number of words in description should be greater than 20: I'm sure that most of you must have never heard of this factor but still would have been able to get away with it because most of our descriptions are anyway more than 20 words. Keep this in mind because even this is a factor that in get you rank high in the search engines than your competitors.

9. Include an image: search engines, especially Google, loves media. If you include videos, images, audio etc. Google will love you. I find including image is the easiest so I include a lot of images, at least one with each article to get the Google LOVE.

10. Alt tag of the image: including your keyword in the alt tags of your image is very important and should never be overlooked. Most of the people never even think of this factor but I have personally experienced a boost in the search engine rankings of my sites when I included an image with my keyword as the alternate text.

It is a way of telling Google that the image that you have included on your page is relevant to the search query.

11. Internal link structure: your internal pages should link to each other. I try and squeeze on at least two links in the article body to other pages on my blog/website. You can use WordPress plug-ins for this if you use WordPress. One of the plug-ins that I use is KB linker.

12. External links: you should include links to high PR websites on your blog. I personally linked to a Wikipedia page that is related to my niche in my footer and also to copyscape. Include links to high PR websites even in the article body.

13. Number of tags: the number of tags should be greater than five.

If you get this correct and build high PR back links with little variation in the anchor text then you can rank really well in the search engines.

Autoposting Blog and Landing Pages

I was lurking around one of the forums I visit and ran into a newbie that seemed to be in trouble. He created a autoblog using an autoposter called WpRobot and had over 2000 posts but wasn't making any cash and didn't sound like he was getting any traffic. (Wprobot is an excellent set of plugins for wordpress and I highly recommend them)

There's so many different ways to approach his problem....I just took the first thing that came to my head and gave him some ideas...hope they help the poor guy!!

Blogs Vs Landing Pages?
Which system could potentially make the most money, Blogs or Landing Pages?

I only ask this because i have a blog thats automated with WPRobot but i think im doing something wrong as its not making anything and there are over 2000 posts, i have just read into Landing Pages to advertise (whatever) and with every Landing Page needs to be build by hand what would be worth it in the long run.

I know there are alot of wise people on here

As was mentioned....just because you have 2000 posts doesn't mean you'll get traffic and/or sell things.

I think you need to backup a little and determine what the purpose of your blog or website is going to be. Ask yourself, "Why does your blog/website exist"

I hope you didn't get your 2000 pages in a short period of time....if so, your blog simply won't do well for anything....sorry :) but I'd start over.

You see, anyone can use some autoposting plugins and build a 2000 post blog in no time and Google knows it....so most autoblogs not done carefully are trash.

Learn the mechanics of building a blog, learn the differences between pages and posts.

You can easily use your blog and create a landing page with your blog, make it your index page (the first page that shows up when you type www.mysite.com and you could create some categories and SLOWLY post some relevant content to the blog over time.

Lets say you build a blog about Worms....fishing worms :) Your goal is to sell an ebook on how to raise worms.

You can set up categories like this:

night crawlers
red worms
fishing worms
big worms
small worms
raising worms

Set your autoposter to post to these categores....maybe 2 times a week to each category.....and let it post for a month.

By that time, you should get indexed. Do all the traffic tricks...GET LINKs to your site.

Now use the "Page" feature of your wordpress blog and create a salespage for your ebook. Inside wordpress you can make any Page appear as the index page....so you can make your new salespage appear as the index page. People interested in raising worms should start landing on your sales page.

OR

Do the same thing with the Page function but create a landing page that offers a free short report on raising worms. Your landing page would tell of the advantages of raising worms and all the money you can make raising worms. Your landing page would have an optin form so you can collect email and name, the autoresonder sends out the download link for the free worm report...... Now you have their name and email...they are on your list and you can create an email sequence telling them why they need to buy your best selling Worm Book!!! :)

Whether you do the salespage or landing page, all this time your autoblogging plugin, wprobot is adding content to your blog in a random manner....SLOWLY over time. Hopefully your content is relevant. Also, more importantly you are doing articles, or whatever your method of choice is for getting backlinks to your salespage, landing page and some deep linking.

There's many other methods and models of trying to monetize a blog like yours. If your doing adsense or CPA ....you need traffic and have to use the tricks to make people click on your ads.....pretty tough gig these days. But....there's plenty of BHW members making a go of this....keep reading and studying and trying.

Above all, don't worry if you spend a little time and money but your blog turns out to be a dud....it happens to everyone. Just move and start again. You'll succeed if you DON'T QUIT!!!!

Squeeze Page Basics

Squeeze pages are basically one-page websites that offer you something in exchange for filling in your contact details. The page will also contain (at the very bottom) the business privacy standards and possibly other information like contact details. The squeeze page is designed so that the visitor will be compelled to take a very specific action. So, to be effective it should have a catchy headline, a story or some content that immediately catches the interest of the reader, examples of how the product or service is helping others, testimonials, and the bonuses the reader will get it he or she takes the action you desire. There is no navigating on the squeeze page. Your visitor will just follow it through and take action, or will decide to leave the site.

At this point, some squeeze pages will have a pop-up window incorporated to invite you back to the page by promising you a discount, an extra bonus, or some other benefit that the visitor will have a hard time passing up.

There is a lot of information about the best way to create a squeeze page or to have someone do it for you. Many internet marketers leave this work to established designers who understand exactly what kind of pages convert visitors into leads and/or sales. Others prefer to do it themselves. In either case, there are certain elements that are crucial to having a good squeeze page.

The headline, of course, is the most important factor. It's been said that you have eight seconds at the most to capture your visitor's attention. If your headline doesn't do that, then the rest of the content on the page is pretty much useless. Keep in mind that the headline does not have to be "hypey", but it does need to be compelling. Also, you don't want to put the features of the product or service you are offering in the headline. Rather, you want to tell the visitor why he must have whatever it is you are offering, so speak in terms of benefits to him or her. Most squeeze page headlines are in red, and they can then be followed by a smaller sub-heading.

The rest of the squeeze page is about further convincing your visitor that what you are offering is not to be passed up. By the end of the squeeze page, he or she should feel he or she is going to be getting a tremendous deal just by giving you his or her contact information. Customer testimonials are necessary, as well as other examples. You also want to make sure that the visitor knows that there are limited items of whatever you are offering on your squeeze pages, or that the price will be going up soon, or both. If you don't give them a deadline, they will often just think that they will come back to it later, and then they never do.

Thought I'd do a quick review of Rapid Income Creator....since it made such a huge impression on me!

I thought this post belonged here because the owner hints on a new way of making websites and monetizing these sites....claims he made over $200,000 a year.....and here's a secret.... I don't think this guy is a rocket scientist...you know, elevator doesn't go to the top floor, day late and dollar short type of thing.....anyway...you'd best check it out yourself.

I was expecting the online scams to reach fever pitch since our Obama generated recession has put so many people in the poor house. In fact, I expected to see one scam after another....one hopeless promised for riches after another hopeless promise.

You see....there is no.....super software where all you need to do "push this button and voila...instant riches".....its all BS!

Even though I expected to see these rip off artists, I still get pissed when I run across one of these deals....or worse, when someone I'm subscribed to tells me.... "Hey Scott...hope you're still up, I was gonna send this out tomorrow but I knew you'd want to see it right away!" My BS radar starts going crazy about now.

Yep, I got one of these emails from Jason Parker. Been on his list for a while and just about every email is a promotion for one kind of life changing offer after another.....but I like to see what the IM Lemmings are up to....so, I stay subscribed.

I got an email from Jason a couple of minutes ago....and he caught me at a weak moment...I clicked the link to see what this deal was...here's part of his email:

The sad part about this type of marketing and advertising is that it targets the poor folks that just lost everything or are just about to lose everything....I mean, they're hurting :(

God help me if I ever stoop to these levels.

I'm sorry, I just get so sick of these parasites.

I'll tell you what really set me off.

This guy...John Carter, who calls himself the Founder, put together a video at the beginning of the salesletter. It's almost 9 minutes long. I figured I'd take a quick look to at least learn what the product does and how it works....most savy marketers will include these details.

Funny thing about Alias's.... although I'm turned off by the whole presentation and concept....this guy John Carter really could be someone like Frank Kern or some other Super IM Guru who really knows what he's doing and Rapid Income Creator could be some super cloaked Frank Kern bombshell that's just in testing. I think this idea is more of a hope than a reality :)

Well....I'm pissed because it was 9 minutes of images of money, happy people, music and promises of how I'd be rich if I clicked the button below. Not one piece of information as to how to software works.....just pure hype, an insult to my intelligence and waste of my time....that's when I decided I'd write this post reviewing Rapid Income Creator

I really don't like ripping on another marketer. But I'd do the same to some sleazy used car salesman, ambulance chasing attorney or doctor who cut off the wrong limb. Rapid Income Creator could very well make you rich beyond your dreams.....but the "Founder" shoots himself in the foot with this sleazy salesletter.

Here's the ironic thing....I really don't know if RapidIncomeCreator is any good. In fact, it could be the best thing since sliced bread.

My beef is all the hype in the presentation of the product with no proven results. It's no wonder the FTC wants to put the screws to affiliate marketing.

The software or program...whatever it is, has left me questioning what it is and what it does. Sure...its going to make me rich!.... But, how?

My rant is done.

The best thing I can say about this product is that it's payment processor is by Clickbank ...which means you have 90 days to review the product. If you get lucky and the product makes you money....well, good for you. But if it sucks, you can easily get your money back!

One last thing.

I told you what I think of this deal, however, I didn't purchase it. Like I said, Rapid Income Creator just might work. Plus, I'm a marketer at heart so I fought with myself as to whether or not include affiliate links in this blog post. Well.....the internet marketer got the best of me, the links are my affiliate links and I'll make a percentage off of anyone that purchases through my link. You see.....I'm one of those who has been affected by the economy.....I need every cent I can generate!

Review of Wp Robot Autoposting Wordpress Plugin

So many people are using wordpress or blogger to build websites today.....and for good reason, it's become very easy, you virtually do not have to know one bit of html...although I think that is to your detriment.

I wanted to include this review of Wp Robot because it's involved in using wordpress to build websites, but it is also involved in another activity for quickly building websites and that is autoposting or autoblogging. This is the process of automatically adding quality content to a blog to create good quality content for the user or blog visitor. Of course, you can abuse the process and use autoblogging to quickly create a bunch of spam pages but Google will soon find out and it will be a big waste of your time.

Creating quality content through autoblogging can be tricky and that's why I'm so excited about a suite of plugins called Wp Robot. You'll be amazed at what it can do.....so please read on.

I've used many autoblogging scripts, software and wordpress plugins over the last couple of years and if you search this blog for autoblogging, autoblog, autopost or autoposting you'll find some informative posts on autoblogging. I've become somewhat of an autoblogging afficiando, so I thought I'd do a pre-Review of WP Robot just to get the information out there for anyone who is interesting in learning more about autoblogging or autoposting.

I've discovered one of the most important features of any autoposter is the ability to randomize and customize the post. The purpose is this is to create content that isn't just duplicate content, your blog will do much better with unique one of a kind content and that can be accomplished by adding to, changing or subtracting from any autoblogged content. There are many more sources of content that can be autoposted and as time goes on creative minds find new sources of content to use for autoposting along with new methods of autoposting. The methods and means of autoblogging are only getting better and better.

Recently I ran into a new and powerful Autoblogging Wordpress Plugin called WP Robot. I hope to have a copy soon, however, let me tell you want the plugin claims to be able to do.

First, let me clear something up. You might be wondering, "Why is Scott telling me about a plugin he hasn't even used?" That's a good question. First let me tell you there is a free version of WP Robot and I wanted anyone who was interested in autoblogging not to be limited by the lack of funds.....you can try it out with the free version of WPRobot and you can even start making some cash with it. Secondly, I believe this WP Robot is one of the most complete Autoposting plugins available yet!

Most autoblogging scripts or plugins come with the ability to post from one source, some even give you a couple of sources but I have not run into any that can create posts from 7 or 8 different sources and allows you to mix up the posts.

You should also know there are several different licenses available. Anything from a common ebay module to a developers license for the entire set of modules.

Wp Robot is set up with different modules. Each module can run by itself or you can purchase the entire set of modules. The modules are as follows:

Amazon Module
Article Module
eBay Module
Clickbank Module
Yahoo Answers Module
Translation Module
Flickr Image Module

Although I don't have the full version yet, based on what I've read it appears as though this set of modules can be edited and configured to post in very unique and different ways. This is a big benefit for anyone who is an autoposter because no 2 posts will ever be the same. For anyone who fears the duplicate content penalty, this should make them very comfortable. Also, the posts can be configured so that it is next to impossible for the Google spiders to tell where and how the content was imported and assembled. This means the fear of your site being de-indexed is next to zero!

I. Amazon WP Robot AutoBlogger Module

Let's take a little closer look at some of the modules the can be included in the wprobot plugin. Starting with the Amazon Module.

The Amazon Module lets you pull in any product that is sold on Amazon, plus you can add the reviews that people post on Amazon as additional content in the form of comments to your blog post. This is an excellent way to get unique content on your blog. Here are some of the features:a

The articles come from 2 big article directories and select an article from the 1000's of available articles. You can use several languages. Create your own template from the templating system. You can control whether or not you want to conform to the TOS of the article directory by including the author's box or not! A handful of other options available.

III. eBay AutoBlogging Module

Pulling in ebay auctions is nothing new for autoblogging. However, the way WP Robot does it is very different! There's a feature called MIX Feature which allows you to put ebay auctions into your other posts created by wp robot and just increases your chances of monetizing a blog post.

I stumbled on a blog post about a new book called Nanobloggers.

Turns out to be a no no-nonsense approach to developing an online income by developing a niche markets using blogs. Not a novel concept in and of itself, however, it is a recipe type book, spelling out the steps needed to develop your niche and turn it into a money maker.

The concepts are appropiate for someone either new or interested in finally making money online. No hype but good solid teaching.

I've seen many comments on the book, almost all of them good!

Here's a few comments I stumbled on while searching online for more information about Nanobloggers:

This is a great book. I'm only on page 26 / 105 and i've found the ebook more interesting and useful than any other book ive read. The resources and links alone are worth the price of this ebook.

Hey, this is good stuff. Ignore the intro chapter and get into the meat of this.

Basically all about adding the personal touch to blogging to gain the trust of readers and use the power of blogs as natural SEO.

Funnily enough I've just spent the past week working on a couple of blogs mirrored by this method. Nice to add some more info to what I've already discovered, thanks.

I really like the product. It's a very simple and elegant system for blogging. The system requires some work but the philosophy behind is much more in tune with the core strengths of the Internet itself.

For some people like me the beauty of the system clearly shines through. But I can tell others are going to question certain aspects of the system because its different than what most of us are use to. How to Build a Wordpress Theme & Free Snippets PDF

I've had an interest in learning how to build wordpress themes from scratch for a long time. Along the way I've picked up pieces of information, I suppose just as many of you guys have and learned how to hack my way through a wordpress theme. I even learned how to take an Xsitepro Template and turn it into a wordpress blog with the help of XsiteprotoWordpress which is a comprehensive tutorial taking you step by step through the process of turning a xsite pro template into a wordpress blog. Although there are plenty of youtube videos and other free tutorials, I find that organized compiled courses that offer a class in an ebook format and/or screen capture videos to be most helpful.

You can find plenty of tutorials on how to build a wordpress theme that are free by just doing a google search on "how to build awordpress theme" you'll find some old stuff and you'll find some very complicated material but if you keep at it you can learn how to build your own wordpress theme.

I found a pdf that includes all the code snippets you need for creating a wordpress theme, you might find it helpful to print this out and keep it at your side while working on your wordpress theme, here are the wp code snippets.....they're free :)

If you're really motivated and want to jump start the process I suggest the book "How to be a Rockstart Wordpress Designer", an excellent resource for anyone with some knowledge of html and css, you'll learn how to confidently and quickly how to build a wordpress theme! The book is a pdf, so you can instantly download and start learning how to create a wordpress them....I like to print out my books and bind them....I take them wherever I go!

You can built affiliate sites like this without the use of datafeeds or anything else complicated. You can build a site that is 1000's of pages.

You could build these sites and then sell them....or flip a site, I'm not sure, but you probably have to purchase the license again so you would want to include that cost when considering what you should sell it for.

One of the coolest ideas for Auto Amazon E-Script is using it on some of those dormant domains you have sitting around. I don't know about you, but I have at least 100 domains sitting around that cost me 10 bucks a year, why now put Auto Amazon E-Script to work and set up some amazon stores.

Building websites without proper knowledge of keywords is a quick road to nowhere!

Someone asked me what I use to find keywords and I quickly suggest MicroNicheFinder and answered in detail below.

I can appreciate your frustration with keywords.....I've been doing this a long time and always had a mental block when it came to keywords.

I purchased keyword lists, I purchased just about every keyword tool that came out and I grabbed as many ebooks as I could that had anything to do with keywords and keyword research.

How Do I Build a Website?

Every aspiring webmaster starts in a slightly different way. Some might have a teacher, some might learn in high school, maybe college, others grab a book and start reading, nowadays you can do a google search for free tutorials on "how to build a website" as you can see you are almost limited to your imagination or maybe fate!

I started by wondering how that page showed up in the browser. Honestly, I didn't know what the word "browser" meant. I had no idea what html was and I didn't know what "source code" defined.

The first time I looked at the html coding for a basic webpage my old gray cells started spinning, it literally is like learning a foreign language. And like a foreign language once you learn the basics you can form words, then sentences, then paragraphs and so on.

I started around 1999 by purchasing a couple of hard cover books on how to build a website. They were difficult to read and didn't make much sense. I had no one to help me so I had to experiment myself.

I understood a little about how to build a basic page, then I learned more basics such as how to code an image into a page....trust me the learning is continual. Next I decided that I would look into a program that would build websites that had 2 views, something called a WYSIWYG editor (What You See Is What You Get) and a view that showed you the complete html source code while building your website.

The program I ultimately decided to purchase was called Dreamweaver. Now, Dreamweaver is one of the most powerful software programs that can build websites. Learning Dreamweaver was almost as difficult as trying to learn html coding! The learning curve was extremely steep. I purchase manuals and video tutorials. Finally I felt competent enough to purchase a domain name and try to put up my first website. I did and you can see the first website I did at www.desktop-wealth.com. It's really not pretty and there's so much wrong with it that I could write a book....but I took action and did something.

Remember, your first website will be the worse website you'll ever build. They only get better through time!

Today there are so many options that it would take many pages to discuss what is available. However I can narrow it down to a couple of the best.

First let me say, I really think it's important for anyone wanting to design websites to make an effort to learn html, css and php. It doesn't matter what you use for building your websites, sooner or latter you will run into a situation that needs manual editing of the html source code. Not knowing how to do that will leave you in the dark....but that's where your education starts. A problem exists....you find out how to fix it.

Today I would recommend 2 different types of programs for building websites.

The first one is called a wordpress blog. Wordpress is a blogging content management platform used to build your blog. If you can get someone to install a blog on your website, you'll be able to stumble along from day one writing posts and pages. Wordpress is very popular and you'll be able to find many free and paid for tutorials explaining how to use and configure wordpress, which would be something you'll want to do to get the most out of Wordpress. Here's a couple of different wordpress blogs:

Desktop-Wealth Blog

Muscle Building Blog

Coffee Blog

You can start a wordpress blog on your own domain, which is what I would recommend. However, if you just want to play around to see what blogging might be like you can set up a wordpress blog that is hosted by wordpress just go to www.wordpress.com and set up an account. I'd be remiss not to mention Blogger, you can also set up your own blog that is hosted by Blogger. Be aware though, if you start a blog in which you DO NOT control the hosting, you could lose it at any moment. If you post something they consider offensive or in violation of their terms, or maybe someone just doesn't like you......they can dump your blog and you'll lose all your work. Beware, that happened to me at Blogger. I lost a blog I had worked on for 2 years...you know why, they didn't like some of my internet marketing ads...period then end, in a flash it was gone.

Next would be a website building program called Xsitepro. This program is probably the simplest way to start building a standard or static website. As with anything else you'll have to spend some time learning how to use the program. But don't worry, it comes with video tutorials and a written manual. Plus you can find many tutorials online and there is a user forum that is filled with helpful people....just post a question and someone will usually answer it in hours.

Xsitepro is particularly suited for newbies to learn how to build websites. It features a WYSIWYG editor, meaning you just type into a window...something similar to Microsoft Word. You can also view the source code and edit it. Even though it's easily used by someone new to website building, there are many advanced features and is a handy tool for even the most experienced website builder.

A big, big benefit of Xsitepro is how it puts the pages together. You may not understand this now, but certain things are needed to get traffic or visitors to your website. It's known as "Search Engine Optimization", and this is what Xsitepro does automatically. A hundred pages or more could be written on how Xsitepro does this, but suffice it to say, Xsitepro builds websites and webpages and are search engine optimized...which for you means traffic.
